The species found in the realm of the Abyss are varied, though the majority are from the true species Canis lupus. Subspecies vary only slightly in breeding season, size and appearance. We allow most wolves that are generally found on Canadian soil to join the site, though other, more exotic species are expected to have a realistic way of being transported to the Canadian wilderness.

Keep in mind when creating your character that females will never be at the top end of the size spectrum and males will never be at the lower end. Females are almost always smaller than the males. Also note that lighter colored fur generally leads to darker colored eyes and vice versa.

If the species or subspecies you would like to play is not listed, or you would like to play a hybrid, please contact an admin to ensure it is alright. We will be allowing few animals that are not these species and will only be allowing them to proven active users.

All the information on this page may not be 100% realistic and may have been modified to fit the role play world we have created. It is, however, fact in the world of this website and we expect the members to follow it. Some abnormalities are allowed, but please ask an admin before going ahead and adding it to your profile.

    Grey Wolf (Canis lupus)
Description: These are the most common type of wolf found in the world. It is a loosely used term to describe all subspecies of the wolf. We do prefer that an actual subspecies is chosen over simply 'Grey Wolf' because it will give the wolf more character and make it easier for the administration to determine the realism of the wolf.

Vancouver Island Wolf (Canis lupus crassodon)
Description: There is not much information available on this wolf. Although SA is not set on Vancouver Island, there is no special backstory one needs to explain the wolf's coming to the territory due to close proximaty.

      Size: Medium
      Height: 26 - 32 inches
      Weight: 65 - 90lbs

Color Pelt: Mostly a mix of grey and brown, white is a rareity but possibility.

    Tundra Wolf (Canis lupus albus)
Description: The largest species of wolf in the SA territory. These wolves aren't exactly abundant, but due to the original alpha male holding tundra wolf genes, they aren't rare.

      Size: Medium
      Height: 35 - 40 inches
      Weight: 100 - 140lbs

Color Pelt: These wolves tend to be lighter; white isn't uncommon but lighter greys are the norm. Brown and black are nearly nonexistant.
      Eyes: Gold - Brown

      Breeding Season: April

Behaviour: These wolves are large and can isolate themselves at times, making them almost 'antisocial', though they still have instinct for companionship. They tend to be prideful and some cocky. Because of their habit of isolating themselves they are prone to mental disorders. Their size can make them very dangerous, though they are not prone to aggression.

    Red Wolf (Canis Rufus Rufus)
Description: Much smaller compared to the grey wolf, the red wolf is much like a coyote. Whther one will be accepted into the pack or killed depends fully on who greets it at the border. Red wolves may end up being loners whether they choose to be so or not. They are not native to Canada and thus need a realistic backstory on how they or their family got to Canada.

      Size: Small
      Height: 14 - 17 inches
      Weight: 40 - 80lbs

Color Pelt: As their name suggests, red wolves are red. This red color tends to be marked with black, white and tan. They are never a solid color nor only grey or brown.
      Eyes: Gold - Brown

      Breeding Season: December

Behaviour: These wolves can be tricksters, very fast and agile, and down right mean. They can also be very nice. Their personality does vary quite a bit, though most skittish in some way. Due to their size they have a lot of predators.
