Forum Etiquitte
- i. Respect is of utmost importance. Do not flame, insult or slander any member of the forum. Drama queens who pick fights will also not be tolerated.
ii. Theft of any kind will result in a ban. It will never be tolerated. This includes taking names, portions of profiles, small or large images, HTML/css or anything that was created by our staff or members.
iii. Try not to double post. This means do not post and then post again after yourself. The only times this is allowed is in note to self threads and table testing threads.
iv. If you have any problems with a specific member please contact an admin so something can be worked out. Do not involve other members of the forum or unrelated staff members.
Creating a Character
-
i. We are a semi realistic forum. Keep in mind that multicolored wolves always outnumber solid wolves. Green and blue eyes are currently banned as they are seen as unrealistic. Blue is allowed in 25% wolf/husky, wolf/malamute hybrids only.
ii. Follow the information we provide on the species allowed. It may not be 100% realistic, but in the world in which this site is set it is fact.
iii. Keep in mind that we are not set in real time or real place. The Abyss is a fictional canadian wilderness. Therefore, certain aspects of the landscape and wildlife will be unrealistic. However, if you role play particular species you still need a realistic history. No human experimentation or anything of the like that would not otherwise be happening in the current day and age.
iv. Age is very important. If you make a pup be aware of the breeding seasons of each wolf and the current season on site. Pups will not survive on their own in any species if they are under 9 months of age.
v. When it comes to making species that are not wolves you must contact and speak with an admin. Your first character will never be a non-wolf character! You must prove your activity first.
vi. There is a TWO chacter per person limitation. Additional characters may be requested. Whether you may have an additional character or not depends heavily on your activity with all your current characters.
'Etcetera' Characters
- i. As said in ii-v, your first character will never be an Etcetera character.
ii. Special rules will be set out for each of these characters on a character by character basis. They all must be realistic for a Canadian wilderness, however. All basic rules - including post length - still apply.
General Wolf Rules
- i. Wolves are expected to act realistic. However, love and the like may be based more on emotion than instinct. This isn't realistic but it does add drama.
ii. Wolves can't cry. They can whimper, yelp, whine but they cannot physically cry.
iii. Wolf claws are not sharp. They can dig but they cannot climb trees, scratch eyes out, etc.
iv. Wolves in a pack should submit and respect those above them. Not doing so can result in vicious reprimand.
v. Requesting ranks is almost frowned upon. Once a wolf is accepted it is accepted with the highest available rank. If it would like to get up higher it must challenge for that spot.
vi. Rank bumps will be made every so often, bumping up characters to fill empty higher ranks.
vii. Fights do not need to be watched by another wolf. Death should be a very rare occurence; the goal is to make the adversary submit. One full dodge is allowed per fight. If no winner can be worked out the administration will decide.
viii. All ranks are challengeable. Only the alpha pair is a mated rank. The role player of the alpha character would prefer no one challenges him at this time due to plot reasons, however if you're interested in doing this feel free to PM the alpha account and discuss.
Hunting
- i. Pack hunts may occur but they will be rare as they do take a long time to finish and people don't always like them. Small hunts with groups can be worked out in the group. Anyone can powerplay prey.
ii. Wolves cannot bring down large prey on their own. This can happen but it's very rare. No large take downs without a small group of three or more.
iii. Try to keep hunting somewhat realistic. We do have information available on the website.
Mating/Puppies
- i. Any pair who wishes to become mates must seek permission of the alpha pair. If they do not it could mean exile.
ii. Any mated pair wishing to have puppies must seek permission of the alpha pair or risk themselves and their offspring being killed.
iii. No graphic mating in the forum or live chat.
iv. Pups are subject to death at the discretion of the administration team.
v. The admins will decide the number of, gender and vague appearance of the pups. When it is mating season an announcement will be posted for players to apply for pups. Some litters may be still born.
vi. It is up to the parents to find role players for the puppies born. Any pup without a role player by six months will be deemed dead.
vii. Pup ages and development should follow the chart that we provide. Updates will be posted periodically on where they ought to be developmentally.
