One of the most important things in a wolf pack is the hierarchial structure. Because wolves are social pack animals, they need a way to know who gets what and how to settle disputes without blood shed. That is done through the hierarchy. Each wolf is above or below another wolf, and must submit or show dominance accordingly. The rules of this particular pack are very strict and harsh when it comes to the hierarchy. Failure to submit is seen as a threat and challenge and may end with a rank battle, or 'forced submission'. It is called this because the wolf that is forced to submit is the wolf who loses the fight.

Although bloodshed is a rarity in these battles it can happen. It's much safer to submit like a good little pup.

Below is a list of ranks and the wolves who hold them in order from most dominant to least dominant. The hierarchy can change drastically over night and may not always be fully updated. As more wolves join the pack, more named ranks will be made. There will be few to no subordinate wolves in the pack. Omega will always be the lowest rank If you notice your wolf is not on the hierarchy please contact the stats mod or an administrator.

You'll notice that there are no 'hunter', 'pupsitter' etc ranks available. The reason for this is that these are given out as jobs or 'tasks'. Tasks are shown beside each wolf's name on the hierarchy. There are only a few tasks available at the moment, but as they are needed more will be added. A wolf may request a task or may given one when an alpha sees it fit. Available tasks are listed at the bottom of this page.

Scout: Scouts wander the borders and watch out for loners and portential pack members. They should be friendly but strong and able to hold their ground. Scouts have the most useful task of the wolves. Troublesome loners can be an issue and if they are a scout should call on an alpha for a second opinion.

Pup Sitter: The pup sitter will watch over pups until they are yearlings and the next years' pups are available to sit. They have the task of making sure each pup is fed and cared for as well as protecting them from predators.

Advisor: The advisor is appointed by the alpha specifically. The advisor is to inform the alpha pair of any issues regarding the pack that they are not already aware of, as well as help the alpha pair in decisions. The advisor will often be the sub alpha.

Peace Keeper: The peace keeper of the pack keeps the wolves from ripping each others throats out. They may break up fights, settle disputes and keep grudges from forming. They need to be level headed in difficult situations.
